Description: |
The SAN Filer consolidates file services for the supported protocols into a single gateway and provides administrators with an easy-to-use, comprehensive, web-based interface. Through the provided utilities, administrators can create shares, associate file types that can access that share, and assign security restrictions for each file system type.
Used in conjunction with SAN/iQ volume management, the SAN Filer provides enormous flexibility to the administrator. Volumes are created on the SAN/iQ storage pool and presented to the SAN Filer as a locally-attached disk through the Microsoft iSCSI initiator. After the volume is formatted and assigned a drive letter, it's available to the SAN Filer to be managed and shared out. Through the SAN Filer web-based interface, an administrator creates and shares directories, selects which client types have access to the volume, assigns permissions, and establishes file-level storage management.
