ABSTRACT:
The installation of blade serversâ??which drastically increase the electrical power used per rack and heat generated per rackâ??into an existing data center is guaranteed to stress existing power and cooling systems. To use blade servers, the power and cooling infrastructure in a data center must be upgraded, or the blade server loads must be spread out over multiple racks. Compounding this problem, operational data centers typically cannot be shut down to perform installations and upgrades.
