ABSTRACT:
Many organizations lack the tools necessary to effectively manage the Java software development lifecycle properly. They are often unable to overcome the complex challenges associated with this type of development, limiting their ability to eliminate discrepancies between environments and manage conflicts between multiple developers.

This white paper measures the benefits associated with a variety of Eclipse-based Java IDEs. In this study, team configurations and projects of varying sizes and purposes were modeled and measured while building new Java software and maintaining existing Java applications. Discover the impact various Java IDEs had on the development cost, time to completion and resulting application quality of these projects. Learn how an Eclipse-based IDE can be used to improve the productivity and quality of various Java projects when compared with using baseline Eclipse distribution.
