Strategic sourcing has thus become a weapon that forward-thinking companies are using to differentiate themselves from their peers. Spend analysis is the starting block for building a successful strategic sourcing program. If implemented correctly, spend analysis can provide holistic, detailed visibility into spend patterns, creating a foundation from which opportunities for savings can be identified and action on them can be taken. If implemented incorrectly, a spend analysis implementation program can become easily misdirected and fall short of delivering all of the potential savings.
