ABSTRACT:
The purpose of this document is to describe how the HP StorageWorks All-in-One Storage System (AiO) can be used as the storage repository for a VMware ESX server using iSCSI connectivity between the iSCSI initiator on the VMware server and the iSCSI Target built into the AiO.
Enabling network storage connectivity to the VMware ESX server allows you to fully realize the computing power of your server platform without worrying about storage capacity constraints and enables higher-level functions like high-availability and VMotion which require shared storage. This paper is not designed to replace documentation supplied with individual solution components but, rather, is intended to serve as an additional resource to aid the IT professionals responsible for planning a VMware Infrastructure 3 environment.
