ABSTRACT:
The broadband services that mobile carriers are beginning to add to their product lineup fall into six categories: High-speed Mobile Web; Location-based Services; Content-based Billing; Mobile Music and Gaming; Security; and Mobile Video. Note that these are the same types of services that customers currently enjoy over their wireline connections, whether telephony or cable-based. Note also that the evolution in networking technology is what makes this possible. This evolution includes a combination of versatile and universal IP networking with tremendous capability at the edge, industrial-strength broadband access, and very capable, multifunction end-user mobile devices that can support a broad range of service types.
