ABSTRACT:
This presentation discusses why disaster recovery plan testing is necessary and what and when to test.
How many of you have a disaster recovery plan that includes restoring data from backup as a primary component? How many of you test your disaster recovery plan regularly? How many people can tell when their next disaster recovery plan is scheduled? Are you willing to bet your job on successfully restoring data from any system in your environment?
As backup solutions evolve, so must the tests. You need to verify that technology meets requirements. Don't assume vendors' tests will work for your business-critical data.
Devices to test:
- Tape
- Disk / VTL
- Encryption
- De-duplication
