ABSTRACT:
VMware® Infrastructure 3 makes it possible to reduce both planned and unplanned downtime, without the cost and complexity of alternative solutions. The VMware Infrastructure software suite provides not only the VMware® ESX platform for x86 server virtualization but also key components such as VMware High Availability and Consolidated Backup.
Organizations using VMware can slash planned downtime by eliminating most scheduled downtime for hardware maintenance. VMware® VMotion technology along with the maintenance mode function in VMware® Distributed Resource Scheduler (DRS) make it possible to move running workloads from one physical server to another, without downtime or service interruption, enabling zerodowntime hardware maintenance.
